Efficacy

The treatment of diabetes relies on blood sugar control and is typically diagnosed and managed with a glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) test. The test provides average blood glucose levels over the past three months.

Those with HbA1c scores that are above their target levels are at increased risk of long-term potentially life-threatening complications so for people with both types of diabetes (1 and 2), understanding their HbA1c level is vital.

By measuring HbA1c, clinicians are able to get an overall picture of what the average blood sugar levels have been over the past three months. The higher the HbA1c, the greater the risk of developing diabetes-related complications.

• A recent study carried out amongst 189 diabetic and non-diabetic subjects across three US sites to test the accuracy of the device found that the portable analyser A1CNow^® had an average of 99% accuracy when compared to readings on the same sample tested in a hospital laboratory.
• Further research has also found that the easy-to-use A1CNow^® device meets industry leading criteria in regards to its precision. Following precision testing done under a specialised protocol in a private laboratory, two whole blood samples of different A1C percentiles were tested over 20 days with four runs per day. Results found that the performance of the device met with the exceptionally high standards of NGSP certification.
